How to do a Flooring plan

What is the best and fastest way to display flooring material for a floor plan. I would like to have layer set to do this but I can't figure out a fast way to do it. I know you can make room poly lines and get the right fill pattern to show up, but I'm just wondering if there is a better way.
    Thanks

Does the room fill have it's own layer?

Yes, it is called "Rooms", check it out, you set the visual for plan view in the room dialog box's "Fill" tab
