Cliff.....I played with every type of scenario I could think of. I can get the soffit to move around, but under no circumstance can I get the return soffit to be at the same elevation as the eave soffit.

The roof returns are auto built. The settings they use are those that are in the Build Roof Dialog. Can we verify these settings match the settings you modified in the roof plane?

Dan....I opened a new plan. I made no changes. Drew 4 walls to make a simple building. Two opposite walls were checked for full gable. MANUALLY built the roofs and the return soffit/eave soffit elevation was as shown in the thread. No matter what settings I change before or after I still get the same mismatched results. I don't know how to discribe it any simpler.

I understand. That would get you the result you got.
Open the Build Roof Dialog. Verify the rafter depth matches the depth you set in your manual roof planes.
To be clear:
The roof returns are auto generated. They will use the default roof settings, not the settings in the manual roof plane.Dan Park,

Dan...I manually built the roof, but the returns were auto built. It shouldn't matter whether the roof planes were auto built or manually as long as I was still having the returns auto built.

Dan....Here is a very simple plan. I opened up a new plan, Did not touch a thing. Made four walls. Two opposite walls full gable with 36" hip auto returns. Manually drew the gable roof. The soffits on the returns are not a the same elevation as the eave soffits. The more you change the framing the worse it can get. (difference in elevation)
