Laptop to replace desktop
My desktop's gettin' tired, and because we're moving and will be in temp digs for a bit, maybe a bit longer than a bit, and I'll be traveling to the new place that comes after the temp digs to see how things are going . . .
. . . I want a laptop.
Not to be used much in places where I'll go with battery only. I will plug it in most always.
I want a big screen, and maybe, finally, something I can get movies to play on.
How does this pricey monster sound, available from Best Buy.

Similar to mine - but a newer version. I have an unused backup (same machine) that I'll sell for $800 if you're interested.

That ASUS is probably the only laptop I would consider if I was only going to have a laptop (only) for my workstation. I've tested that laptop and its a beast - in a good way.

I'm interested, Joe. PM me and give me the details of the machine. You can tell from my desktop's specs, below, what I have now. All I really want is equal or better performance with the laptop when using Chief, and a 17.3" screen.

I only use laptops and I'd have bought Joe's in a flash back in Jan. but wanted a 15 and needed eSata port and Displayport.
If I'd known how good USB3 was or that I get better performance from HDMI than displayport...
The Clevis chassis on Asus, MSI, Sager et al handles the nVidea cards really well. I typically run 3 monitors-main, an 18 off the card and a 14 off USB or main and a 24 IPS.
