Poly Line Solid arches (low Poly) question

Sometimes I will create a poly line solid for arches over bathroom sinks or barrel arches in hallways or whatever. The problem I'm having is that sometimes they are smooth as butter and other times they are very low poly. I usually create them the same each time in elevation view. I'm just wondering if there is a setting or something that might make them appear this way? Can you do it without breaking the arch into a hundred pieces? It seems it only does this for wider arches. Usually a 48" hallway with a 12" arch appears the way I want it to.

    Aaron,
Draw your profile as a polyline
Select the arc with a right click
    select "convert curve to polyline"
enter a largeish number in the "number of sides" box
    convert to psolid

edit - you can convert the curve to polyline after the solid is created as well.
