    Interior Room Dimensions

I have Chief Architect Home Designer Interiors 2014 and am having trouble getting my interior dimensions set up to match the actual room dimensions as I draw the room. I have set the default dimension settings to 'locate wall dimensions' at wall surface but when I build my room, the interior dimensions don't come out right, sometimes the measurements go from the outside wall surface and sometimes it measures from the inside wall surface. When I second-guess the program and add the depth of the interior wall to the actual interior measurement, it still does not always result in the measurement of the actual room. I am a student and am trying to learn this program while preparing final presentation for school. Please help.

You should be able to move the ends of the dimension string by it's handles. That is how it operates in Chief.
You question might be better handled in the Home Designer software forum.

overall, I choose not to display the room dims

as Chief's formulas may not always set the dims to match

I prefer to display my dims as needed

then choose to display the sqft for the room display
