    Watercolor render

I love the watercolor renders with a line drawing over, but.....
I usually send to layout and then I'm done with it - my aging system takes as long as 30 seconds to redraw the render before I can close the overview - is there a way to close a view without making it active first?

You can hit the escape key to interrupt the render

My workflow with that is always to do a screen grab and send that image to layout. I exit the watercolor render mode back to vector view before mucking around to avoid that hang up. Also, this gives me the render image in an easily stored location for reference. I create a Render directory for each project that contains the images sent to layout.

Are you using snaggit or a snipping tool to do your screen grab? I used to export the image to a directory bit then I have to insert the image. seemed like a lot of steps and saved images. now I prefer just sending it straight to layout.

I use Snipping tool most times. I do find that if I do a Print Screen and paste into PhotoShop the clarity seems better. It is a few steps but it works for my process so I can better cross reference and image and it's date to a particular plan file if I need to check back on the version of output. Also, by doing the screen grab I often end up painting out stray lines that show up from the line overlay on watercolor render. This is a factor of my mediocre modeling techniques mostly.

I always save a PDF of the layout with date\issue in the name.
I find that I can generally live with the output without editing - I guess my model is fairly accurate, although I still find myself having to draw some details in CAD? Maybe stuff that I just build differently than CA, deck railings for example, and that I'm too lazy to model manually.
