laptop recommendations for 1k?
The more that I add to the house Im drawing the slower my computer is getting. My laptop is about 6 years old and I guess its time for an upgrade.
I would like to have a desktop but my life is very mobile. Though If I cant get a laptop under 1200 that will run 64 bit, then I just may have to go desktop. From what I remember all the laptops I've ever had didnt have dedicated video cards. That has always been a problem with me. Can you guys recommend a great laptop for 1k? Do they make them with dedicated vid cards?

That Asus is probably the ONLY laptop I would buy to use Chief on - very heavy duty, yet refined. Good price.
Joe, do you setup an external monitor too, or do you use the laptop screen only?X5

Currently I'm just using the 17" Laptop Monitor. X6 is supposed to have true multiple monitor capabilities with detachable child windows. At that point I'll plug in a larger monitor and just park the 3D and/or Plan Views on that monitor.
I'm really shopping for about a 32" with a higher resolution than 1680 x 1050.Joseph P. Carrick, Architect - AIA

Perhaps you didn't understand. It's the extra, unused, in original box unit that I'm willing to let go for just $850.00
That's a steal since I paid $1250 for it and the Targus case is worth at least $75.00
BTW, it beats Chief's minimum recommended specs by a pretty good margin.Joseph P. Carrick, Architect - AIA

you should be able to find a laptop with an independent video card for approx $1K
if not, you will have to bump your budget up
shop around, if I get time later tonight I will check around
