can't import sketchup symbol into X1
Hi,
Having read the forum, it says you can drag an skp file into an X1 plan and the symbol will appear. When I do this nothing happens (no symbol). Also, under the file menu (import) there does not seem to be anything to suggest importing a model (as opposed to a dxf, dwg, etc). Can I import skp files into X1, and if so, how? Thanks much!

Hi Lew,
thanks for the reply. The symbol actually is version 6. I'm just wondering if I've got the mechanics wrong- am I supposed to drag the file from windows explorer into a blank plan? That's what I've tried.

IF the drag and drop is not working try using the regular import 3D tab and go the full route. One problem with the drag and drop is that everything comes in a a fixture so if the symbol is a light it will not work.

You should be able to drag and drop the .skp file into a Chief plan window.
Try doing a zoom all and see if it is there.
Or, to do it manually, the help file for X1 says to use File>Import>3D Symbol Data.
That is incorrect.
Try Tools>Symbol>Import 3D Symbol Data.Glenn

Hey Glenn,
Thanks much, that worked! Nothing like wrong info in the manual!
