How do I get material patterns to show up in my elevations for layout?

Hello all, I am new to CA last month. I have done a pretty good job of discovering CA without asking for help. I have read many of your posts and they have been very helpful. I have watched hours and hours of videos and they have been life savers! However, I am in the final stages of designing and documenting a house and I cannot figure out how to get material patterns to show up on my 2D elevations for Layout. Thanks in advance for your time.

    Doug,

Welcome to the forum. Is it possible that the layer "Patterns, 3D Views" somehow got turned off in the camera view layerset? Also, be sure that "make copy of active layerset" is unchecked when sending to layout. That way plan layersets are used in layout.

In elevation view click the Display Option menu and turn on layer of "Patterns, 3d Views".

Thank you both for the replies. I did check "patterns, 3D views" and it worked! But, I think I have a bigger problem now. (please forgive the old autocad reference here), but in my past life, I could fill areas with a pattern and it showed up. I presumed that once I placed my materials via the model, stucco and stone exterior and asphalt shingle roof, that I would get stipple dots for stucco and some sort of stone pattern that I could edit a bit if it didn't quite look right. I did a bit of a search and found that not all materials have associated 2D patterns...is this correct? How to get stone and stucco to show?

For stucco go to define material and under patterns tab choose "textured". Or, use custom pattern file and load your favorite .pat from AC.

You can look for the appropriate pattern in the Define Material box.

Spencer, are you saying go to the "fill style" in the wall definition DBX? This seems to only work for the "wall plan" patterning. I am sorry if I am not up to speed enough on exactly where to go each time.

Use rainbow button for shortcut to material definition in camera view.

OK, Spencer and Jintu, I know what you are saying, thank you. Give me a bit to work on it and I will let you know the results.

Well I seem to be able to do it, but once I am done bringing in a custom pattern and say OK, nothing new shows up. I may be missing a step yet.

Patterns show in "Vector" view not "Render" view.

I don't know if this helps or not. I am sure I have missed a step along the way.

Try these steps(arrows). For wall definition . If your siding is polyline solids that is a different method.

William. Did that and still nothing. I'm sure it sounds strange. I will keep reading the manual and doing some more searches.
