How do I get material patterns to show up in my elevations for layout?

I am used to doing a lot of SketchUp models and the paint can is your friend in SketchUp

Ha! Yep, generally the spray can on walls is not advised because of the confusion it can cause. Make changes in defaults and plan materials for a global effect. But, I use spray can alot for unique entities. The material "picker" also plays a significant role.
