Can not check your plan, but have experienced it. Try this, drop lower roof own 12" and then see if they will join. Just see if there s magic spot that roofs don't join.

I have begun to think that the "join roofs" tool was designed by an evil programmer

    Mark:

    I agree....

If I select roof plane A and select the join planes tool then chief should join the planes

If chief detects a situation then maybe pop a warning
but give me the choice to "join anyways"

If I get one plane as needed then in most cases I want the other plane to match
    so just do it !!!

    Lew,

I thought your partner did all your roofs because you can't do them.

I have never had Chief fail to join 2 roofs that COULD be joined.
If they can't be joined, Chief will tell you.

No point in telling Chief to "join anyways" if it is physically possible to join the 2 roof because of the geometry.

Perhaps you could post an example of the problem you describe.
In fact, I challenge you to post an example.

    Glenn:

the point is I don't care about the geometry

I like roof plane A and I want roof plane B to match it

just like the stairs have the "make reach" feature
I would like the "join planes" to just make them join

this is precisely why I avoid doing manual roofs and let my partner do them

I hate all that tugging and pushing and pulling
a tweak here and a tweak there

I just don't have the patience for it

so yes, I suppose if the stars and the moon are all aligned properly
then maybe chief can do its thing and join the planes

I'm sure there are many situations where the join planes tool works just fine
I just don't have the patience to find them

I'd rather pay my partner to do them
