    Post/Pier Foundation on Sloping Site

If you were doing this type of building would you:

    1. Just use a Pier Foundation with the Main Floor directly above?
    2. Use a Pier Foundation and add a Floor area using Invisible Walls with Posts and Beams to support the Main Floor?
    3. A combination with Grade Beams?
    4. Some other method?

I've tried the first 2 but both seem to have limitations in Chief Architect. I was thinking about the 3rd but it's not a simple thing to accomplish. Maybe I could use Terrain Walls for the Grade Beams.

Is this example I used a standard foundation then selected the foundation and deleted. Changed the floor structure to include beams. Added posts and polyline solid foundation piers.

So you created the foundation just so you could frame the first floor?

    Hey Bill,

My sister lives in Lacey. When I was in my 20's I spent some time at my cousin's cabin at Goss Lake on Whidbey Island. That was about 50 years ago so I imagine that some things have changed.

    Joe,

The foundation was created for the framing then deleted it.
Gross lake is a medium pond, it's where the runoff goes. The lake is about five miles from me. I look out to Puget sound and the cruise ships.

That's how I remember it. It was a decent swim to cross it but at least it wasn't just mud.

Most of the lots on the waterfront have a house on them. I have been on Whidbey island for twenty years.
