Selecting framing members while in plan view

I keep getting wall first then having to hit tab or next button.
How do you adjust ( assuming you can ) so that framing items
    are selected first.

JJ, as far as I know you don't unless of course you merely turn off all layers but wall framing which you might consider doing.

To see the framing you still need "Walls,Normal" on. Then it back to selecting the wall first.

Lock the layer that the wall itself is on, and make sure that framing is not locked. Then you can directly select the wall framing in the wall to edit it. I have layer sets to accomodate the way that I work and the selection method I want to use at the time.

    Hope this helps.

Thats what I do. My framing layer set has everything off or locked so that I can work on framing without pulling my hair out.

David seems like that should work but doesn't for me. Did a save as, turned off all except wall framing and locked all but
    nothing shows ????

I find this to be helpfull too. You can go to build framing / walls / check build wall framing details from exterior,
then the detail view is from the outside of the building when you click. open wall detail in wall DBX

    Cool

Another thing that I do to help orient myself to the walls in plan view and the Wall Details produced from a selected wall is to set the outer main layer's line color to a different color than the other wall lines while I am working on wall framing. This can be very helpful for interior walls particularly.

By the way, you are quite welcome regarding the previous tip.

Oh well not that simple. You must check that option before you build framing, and from then on views will be from outside. I was thinking you could reverse the view of already built framing but you can't. Still one I am glad to know and will take advantage of. Live and learn . . . . . .
