draw roof soffits underneath roof plane?
I'm new an evaluating the software. If I draw roof planes they have the eave on the outside but no soffits underneath. I want my soffit to return from the lowest part on the roof plane 90 degrees back to the exterior wall. How can I do this?

To elaborate on the two words above - open the "Build Roof" dialog box, "Options" tab, click the check box for "Boxed Eave"

Are you trying to create a boxed eave soffit that is flush with the gable siding.

If you are asking for the flat soffit to stop at the gable wall instead of continuing out to the edge of the gable overhang.....
Create separate roof planes for the gable overhang and uncheck the "Boxed Eave" for those roof planes. But in that case, Chief will not automatically close the ends of the "Boxed Eaves".Joseph P. Carrick, Architect - AIA
