Out of ideas and need help creating a gable wall...
See attached Word doc. I'm trying to create a simple gable where the yellow circle is. CA gives a warning saying "cannot produce a roof plane". I've worked on this for hours, and cannot figure out why Chief is complaining.
Any help would be greatly appreciated folks.
Thanks much,
Ross

Hi Ross,
Loaded your plan and then deleted all roof planes. Then had CA build them for me. I think that will solve your problem. I did'nt compare my new version with yours but think it solves the problem'
Happy New Year - hope your 2013 and all the CA'ers out there have a great one.

Did you try the "Gable/Roof Line" tool?

Hi Doug. Thanks for your quick reply. I tried deleting the roof planes also; and CA still threw an error. See attached. For the area of the roof that I want to gable, I'm using CTRL B to define the gable wall. I then delete all roof plans and rebuild the roof. That's when CA generates a warning.
I finally got it to work by bumping out the wall I want to gable and CA didn't throw a fit. However, I'm unsure if creating a gable wall requires the wall to be dislocated from the main wall. Oh well, it's working now.
Thnx.

Dave, that looks FANTASTIC. Yes, I tried the gable/roof line tool and got the same warning/error message. Is there a trick to using this tool?
I did find a solution, by bumping out the gable wall. However, my preference is what you illustrated in your picture. I think the key to the tool is drawing the gable line close to the wall????

Ross, After you use the tool, in the "Build Roof" dialog, be sure and un-check "Use existing baselines" else Chief ignores your use of the tool.
(I would note that I still get a couple of error messages, but didn't try and track them down. The gable builds properly, though.)Kind Regards,
