displaying columns or newels along a railing in plan.
Is there a way to display ONLY the columns , or newels, along a railing in plan? I know you can display newels and ballusters in plan by setting the railing defaults but it doesn't appear that you can separate them. I would like to see only the columns in plan and not the ballusters. In this case, the columns are supporting a roof. Using X5. Thanks.

Yes you can do that by adjusting the railing DBX. I do it all the time.

Mark,
Just turn railing off in the rail specification, rail style tab, NO Rail box, this will turn rail off but leave newels and columns on.

thanks Perry, but I think I explained it incorrectly. Yes, I do want to see the columns or newels but I also want to see the top rail of the railing in plan. I also want to see the 3d view displaying all, including the ballusters. Thanks.
