Deck/Porch floor and rail issue

I've been having difficulty in X5 when I drop the elevation of a deck or porch floor. The post and rail system still shows at an elevation of "0" and will not reconnect to the lower floor level. I've tried the rebuild floors/ceilings but nothing changes. Am I missing the easy solution?

Try using the "click stairs" tool or when you draw the stair, hold the alt key so that it draws down. It may help also if you place a terrain first.

What exactly do you mean by "drop" the elevation? If you mean you uncheck "Default" by the "Floor Height" input box in the deck's dialog box-Structure tab and then replace the default value of "zero inches" with a negative value and then click "OK", if you did exactly that, then and only then would the deck floor change its height.
If you did anything else then I understand why you did not get the result you intended.

The only other way you could get no change is if you have manually turned off "Auto Rebuild Walls, Floors and Ceilings", that setting is found under "3-D Settings" dialog under the 3-D Menu. Or I suppose that if your deck walls are not fully connected (not allowing a room dialog to be available) but that does not seem to be the case. With Auto Rebuild Walls, floors and Ceilings turned off, no changes would then automatically be done until you would manually do so.

This is not Rocket Science, but it is precise and unforgiving relative to its exact procedures.

I have seen this in an older version, I could not reproduce it so put it down to user error. Just delete walls redraw and then immediately change the deck floor to the desired height.

This can happen when you have a railing defining a change in floor level.
Open the railings dbx, Rail Style tab and try checking Generate on Low Platform.
