Using the same material at different pattern angle?
Hi,
I am new to chief and currently trying to design a bathroom. Thanks to this site, I was able to figure out how to do some of the design. I am using polyline solid to isolate different sections of the walls to draw different tile patterns.
What I can't figure out is how to use the same material but rotated at 90 degrees. What I have is 12x24 tile, which in some sections is applied horizontally and vertically at others. I can do it by defining 2 separate materials (eg 12x24 and 24x12 (or 12x24 angled at 90)), but then on the list of materials they are reported as 2 different materials.
I also tried the Adjust Material Definition option, but if I change the angle inside one polyline solid, it changes it everywhere else too.
How could I make it work?
Thanks in advance!

Simply make a copy of the material, and rotate the copy. It is common to have 2 copies of many materials in Chief for this very reason. "Material, and Material-90"

that's what I was doing, but then when it calculates the material needed, it calculates them as two separate materials. Thus, it does not optimize the number of tiles needed.

You have choices.
A. Add up the 2 materials manually because you know that they are really the same.
B. Live with the layout looking incorrect, but no math in the list.
Perhaps someone will chime in with a C, D, and E?
The fact is; Chief does a good job with a lot of things. It is also true that there are many things we wish it could do better.
