The plan in question was created in Chief X1. It may have even been carried forward from Chief 10, I don't remember. I tried to add it to the plans database in Chief X5 and got this error. Pretty weird, huh?

    Jason:

you should send that to CA's tech support

X1.3 changed the file structure from X1.1/.2

but I would think X5 should be able to open either ???

which version of X1 are you running ???

    CA X1 Build 11.5.4.17.

I forgot to mention I did save the file with X5 before trying to add it to the plan database.

    Jason:

is that an X5 plan database or an X1 plan database ???

    If X1, it won't work

You would need to create a new X5 plan database

I do not get the same results as you. I was able to add an X1 plan to a new plan database created in X5 without any problems. This leads me to believe that your problem is specific to the plan (or maybe plans) that you are trying to add to the database.

Can you open up the plan that is giving you problems by just using file open?

If you can, then this would indicate a bug in the plan database code and you should report this problem to tech support so that we can look into it further.

If you can't, then you should try opening the plan in X1. If the plan can be opened in X1 but can't be opened in X5, then this is also a problem that you should report to us.

If you can't open the plan in X1 or X5, then the problem is probably that you have a corrupted plan.

Again, if all else fails, I would recommend that you contact tech support.

Yes, I can open the plan in X5. It was first in X1, I opened it with X5, then I saved it with X5. Later, I opened X5, opened the plan, and tried to add it to an X5 plans database. There is where I got the error. The file saves and opens are working as expected, just the plan database doesn't seem to be working.

I have opened the X1 version with X5 trial version before ordering the full version, but the trial version can't save.

I am not having any problems adding any plans to the plan database in X5. You should report this problem to tech support and be sure to send them the plan that you are having problems with along with a good description of your exact steps.
