Additional X5 Upgrade Costs

Does anyone know if there is a cheaper way to do additional upgrades from X4 to X5? My partner upgraded his for $595, do I need to also pay that same amount even though we're on the same original account? Wondering this because it's cheaper to add an additional license to an existing one, so why not adding additional upgrades?
