Recessed downlights in exterior soffit want to tilt to roof pitch above

Exterior condition. We want recessed downlights in the boxed soffit, but Chief wants to tilt them to match the pitch of the roof above the soffit.

I'm happy with the plan view for the electrical drawing. It is just schematic anyhow. But the tilt is annoying. If I wanted to do a rendering of this and had the lights layer on, it would be seen.

If you open the light fixture symbol dbx (little chair) and uncheck "Flush Mounted" they will not be tilted.

You can also copy the symbol to your user library - open its dbx there and make that change which will eliminate the tilt. Basically the symbol was designed to be ceiling mounted and flush (meaning it would match the ceiling slope). Evidently Chief doesn't account for the fact that boxed eaves are not sloped so it's matching the roof slope.

That's it, Joe. Thanks. Hey, Scott! Thanks, too. Didn't watch your video, but I'll bet it does what Joe says.

BTW, It's only a problem with "Boxed Eaves". Interior Soffits automatically position the light fixtures correctly (both height and slope). Which means that it's a bug in Chief. Report it - Flush Mounted / Ceiling Mounted Fixtures don't properly orient to level when placed in a Boxed Eave.
