    Line style in Elevations

    This must be user error.

The line style in the elevation view sent to layout is not matching the plan's view for things like posts, slabs, etc. But, matches for polylines.

I thought it must have something to do with "cross section lines", but changing their line style has no effect either.

I must be doing something wrong as I haven't noticed this before.
Can someone point out my error, thanks.

Sorry Dave, I am on board now. You are correct. But if you think about it, it makes sense..... I suppose that SOLIDS will ONLY be displayed as solid lines in elevation.

I believe that was your issue................ solids or masses can only be displayed as solid lines in ELEVATION VIEW. They can be displayed as DASHED in PLAN VIEW. I had not realized this either.

Scott, thanks for your reply and confirmation.

Yeah, now I remember using the "thick white line polyline fill" trick to show a dashed foundation below grade. I guess I don't typically show a dashed line for solid objects in a cross section.

I am drawing a new covered patio, and just wanted to show the post footing as dashed in the section. I'll do it some other way.

It is odd that objects will display dashed lines in the section view, but not the same view in the layout.

    Anyone know why that is?

    Preferences > CAD > Line Properties > End Cap - should be ~ 1/16

may be the problem and mysterious how it sometimes changes on its own ...

Mike, I don't think that is it.

Do you have an example with objects (framing, foundations, etc.) in cross section with dashed lines in Plan display dashed lines in the Layout?
