32 bit version of Chief for support of Sketch-up models

    -Hi All,

Recently I've been interested in acquiring some nicely created Sketch up files for my library. When trying to do so, a warning message came up which stated that the symbol was unable to be imported. Sketch-up files have to be supported by the 32 bit version of Chief.

I'm just curious before downloading the alternate version of Chief...Does this mean I would have to switch over the current plan files to the 32 bit version (if I wanted to try out the Sketch up models). Is there any draw back in doing so when you're computer is 64 bit?

Or can I upload the symbols to the library on the 32 bit version and then be able to access them from the 64 bit? Hope this makes sense.

Just trying to keep up with the times!

    Best regards, Val

No, and yes. Open Chief-32, new blank plan, or any plan, import the SU model as symbol, it is then in your library. Open up chief 64 and there you go.

The Only tedious part of this, is having to first close chief 64, before opening chief 32. One library covers all.

    open one version of chief

then hold the ctrl key while opening the second version

you can have multiple versions running at the same time

all depends on how much ram you have

Thanks Gene. Thanks Lew. I really appreciate the tip on how this process works.

I was being cautious about have two versions of Chief not knowing if this might somehow create confusion with current plan files.

I've got a herd of ram so adding the secondary program isn't really an issue.

    Much appreciated.
