If so, then it might be a Window, but it's not a Wall and You can't insert a Chief Door into it.
True - but I can place that in before I bring it over to Chief. I realize this is for the "work-around" category, but I am trying to state if you work with another app you can create a quick custom "feature" that Chief can't do. In Vectorworks I can customize any complex "object" and get exactly how I want.

If a commercial project gets too out-of-hand for Chief its probably best I just use Vectorworks - but for simple commercial and certain modern residential this seems faster.

    Hi Joe

Still trying to learn this stuff. If you could slow this down for me one more notch I think I'm very close. Does the panel go into library as a symbol, architectural block or what. This is a great thread, a good challenge for a new user.

    Thanks

    Jake,

See post #8. They have to be Millwork Symbols.

    1. A Vertical 2x4x12" Aluminum Mullion
    2. A 60" wide x96" tall Panel with top, bottom & 18" high Rails. The Panel has a Stretch Plane at z=36"

I drew a wall 9' tall and edited it in the Wall dbx to be a Railing.

Panel, Post to Beam. I set the Newel and Railing Heights to be 80" and used the Millwork Mullion for the Newels and the Millwork Panel as the Panel. Then I inserted a door (Glass with Hardware from the Library) and added a mullion as the header over the opening. I changed the Railing Beam to Beige Stucco and set its size to 8"x29".

I made the Newel Spacing 39" so that the panels would be about 36" wide (depends on the wall length)
    Joe,

how about sharing a plan with all of us.

OK, here's a plan and also my symbols. You will need to import the Symbols if you want to use them in your own projects.
