The original plan has a large file size (3d plants included), this is a 3 storey, 4-door apartment unit with basement (see attached). Can you host a big file for download?
I will strip all units and floors except the one where the living room is located and create a new thread for the challenge.Jintu E.P. Montego

OK. Thanks. Let's do the interior first. Anyway, Chief's exterior is fine, we don't have to deal much with leaking lights

Bryce,
Do you have a roof built on this model? Either that or a blank floor above might help the light leakage. In my experience no light gets thru a blank floor or an attic.Joseph P. Carrick, Architect - AIA

Yes, Chief is the first one. I do have a roof, but it goes to the inside of the parapets, so that might be the issue. I'll try the blank floor idea, thanks.
Maybe just another layer of roof planes over the tops of the parapets?
P.S. I didn't time them precisely, but I would say between all the little tweaks you have to do in Thea just to get it off the ground, and the time you save not having to do that in Chief, the times are roughly equivalent.Last edited by sutcac; 10-09-2012 at 03:54 PM.

Well, I tried both the blank floor and the second set of roof planes going over the tops of my parapet walls and I still get the light leaks. This is really a deal-killer for showing renderings to clients.

Bryce,
Why don't you send that Plan with cameras to CA Support. Maybe someone there can figure out what's wrong. I'm sure they would like to fix it. It would really be nice to know where the leaks are coming from. Maybe there's a light source where it shouldn't be - but I'm just guessing at this point.Joseph P. Carrick, Architect - AIA

Yes, this is definitely a bug. NOT a feature request!!! Now I will act like clients do. I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS PROGRAM AND I WANT IT FIXED!!!!!

There appear to be soffits or ceiling planes or...... up in that area. It would be really helpful to be able to look at the model - or at least some cross sections to see what's going on.

Here is a more finished one in Thea. It's a huge model, so I can't really post it here. And, it shouldn't matter, as this light leaking is obviously not a problem in Thea. It seems pretty clear it's a rendering engine thing and not a modeling thing. If so many are having problems with it, I am not going to bother with workarounds and just stick with something I know I can make work.

Chad,
The point lights are for lights that glow in all directions(omnidirectional). The parallel lights are directional sort of like a flashlight. I don't thinkl many people use them. Don't know why chief has the recessed lights as point lights either. Makes no sense.Dennis Gavin CR, CKBR
