Ok so heres the latest X5 raytrace dilemma... the first one is done with all can lights as spot lights, the second in point lights and the third all spot lights except for one point light behind the camera. Im really not liking the spot lights because they have a lot of light bleeding going on around the edges of the window casing, yet the point lights definition around the cans are unrealistic. The mix between the two seem best but still dont understand why Im having the affects with the spot lights. In all pics, lights were adjusted to 100% specular and emissive.
Photon Mapping: Try to turn off the sun (sunlight= zero) and do not use environment light (sky). All those leaks will be gone.

    Jintu,

Thanks for the reply. If I turn off the sunlight and environment light, wont that not allow sunlight to come into the windows and make the raytrace look less realistic? I reviewed some of the pics you posted on here and they look really good in part because the sunlight that comes in mixed with interior lighting has a good mix. Could you clarify this? If possible, could you post your screen shots of the settings, so I can better see what selections you make in your renderings with sun and interior light selections?

    Chad,

I suggested to turn off the sun because I did not see any sunlight coming in on your three scenes.

Jintu, looks nice! So how is it that you have sunlight but no photon leaking in the corners?

I added a second floor. A floor on top (or a floor above) seems to cure the leaks.

Im not at my X5 desk so I cant open the sample now but will open when I get back to X5. Thanks for the sample jintu.

This is so strange, my place was also two floors with a roof. A lot of the pics I did, even with the kitchens, they were on the first floor with second floor and roof. In the picture I posted with the orange walls, that was a bedroom on the second floor with a roof over it. Should I add another floor, just while taking pictures it wont do that? I just keep thinking about the kitchen where it was having light leaking in and it had another floor on top plus a roof??

The walls above must have the same alignment with the walls below in order for a scene to be desirable even if it has no roof at all. Works for me most of the time. Roof above rooms won't help much, add floor.

Make sun intensity between 1 and 3, not too bright.

Forgive me for being new. I've searched the site and cannot find the 'Chatroom' where the Battle of the Renderers Part 2 is being posted. Where am I supposed to click to get there, please?

Does anyone know how to darken just the shadows on exterior raytraces? My exterior raytraces seem decent but it seems the shadows from trees and the house dont appear to be dark enough. I dont have a pic to show because Ive been so displeased with the results of the shadows I just start over making adjustments trying to figure out how to change it.

    Thanks in advance!
