I just redid and lined up the walls exactly.............. and I did get the funny little roof with auto roofs on. I would like to agree to disagree. If I am not mistaken, you would agree that manual roofs are the way to go to get things spot on.

Please post our plan so we can look at it.

His roof was one piece from first floor to second floor, yours is not. EDIT: MY BAD, NOT TRUE
You did not post plan so we could inspect.
You win, I was simply trying to get to the bottom of RJ's issue, not important to me. RJ, you are on your own.

EDIT: PERRY, I COULD NOT ACHIEVE WHAT YOU DID, I THOUGHT I HAD AN EXPLANATION, BUT MAYBE I WAS WRONG.
AS I LOOK AT MY PLAN, I TOO HAVE 34'2-7/16 SPAN ON LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE, AND I STILL GET FUNNY LITTLE ROOF, MAYBE I AM MISSING SOMETHING.

I think Cliff is correct. Another example of why it is important to post plans. Bottom line folks, who cares who is correct, the important thing is to get to the bottom of the issue ASAP. None of us needs this crap of going back and forth, let's try to figure out the solution, period.

No I checked them, are your dims. set to 1/16th's. They were auto dims so each side should be the same. Its not my plan.

They are....I also checked the dimensions on both sides, turning on Main Layer only and came up with 34'. Same on both sides.

Well, you are too kind, I will post part 4 at the roof videos. Perry, you and I know it is not important who knows what, what is important is we get to the solution. Thanks Cliff for picking up the dimensional error.

I will state this again, this set of videos is very enlightening to those that want to get a better understanding of how CA builds roofs, thanks again to RJ for posting the plan. It is really funny that somehow when plans get posted, magic happens and we all learn something new and get a better understanding of how CA builds plans, kudos to RJ................. keep posting those plans folks.

OK, I moved the circled wall 1" so that the roof slopes match with the distance which made the overhang 18". Then I used Auto-Build Roof Planes. As you can see it now works. Another option would have been to move the plate height of the garage down enough to make that plane be low enough to match at the ridge.

All I know is it worked for me as is without changing anything except moving that short wall to align with the other side and leaving auto roofs on. I could also see that the front small wall was dimensioned to the surface and that was auto dimensioned that way but it worked. Now the question is , Why did it auto dim. that way for me , same walls, same roof. yet, 1 errant dimension to the surface.

BTW,

I did not find any dimensional error. The left side roof plane built starting at the garage wall and sloped up to meet the roof plane coming up from the back 2nd story roof. As a result, it did not meet at the same place as the one on the right side. Plate heights were not quite right. If the garage roof plate was simply lowered to accommodate the 1" difference in the location of that front-left garage wall then it would meet correctly.
