Question Point to Point move - does it work for you?

Do you use Point to Point Move? And if you do, does it work as you expect it to?

Notice that the last two choices are independent of the first four. So, select from the first four AND from the last two, if appropriate. T'anks.

I checked #2 and #5, although, my #5 vote needs a little explanation.

If one of the "points" I select is not on something "snap-able" then, even when I zoom in real close and try to be very careful where I click, often times Chief doesn't adhere to my placement as well as I think it should. While I voted that I understood what is wrong, I am really just guessing that if a point is not snap-able, then somehow Chief doesn't always interpret where I click, and I really don't know why that is so. If that makes any sense?

    Wendy:

I don't use it too often and when I do I often don't get it quite right

but I didn't choose the last selection since I don't assume "buggie" but me

I just don't seem to have a "hand" for precise things

I therefore try to rely on snaps

What about when you have Object Snaps on, and are trying to snap to one. How does that work for everyone?

I use object snaps almost all the time. PTP works fine every time. I have a hot key assigned for it because I use it constantly.

Point to point and snaps are two separate functions, I always make sure all snaps (except grid snaps) are on when using the Pt to Pt move tool since the one complements the other.
It is especially nice when aligning a site plan scan image with my model plan foot print (the image does not have snap points except at its edges, mid points and center which I rarely then need to use in terms of the image scan.

I use it constantly and I think it works beautifully the vast majority of the time. I think for the last two choices I fall somewhere in between. Sometimes I think I know why and sometimes I don't.

Most of the time i use it,but i frequently use it for placing items from one plan to an other, place any where so then fix in position. Again mostly it's use by me follows my sellection of edit area to move a whole or part of the plan specially when placing multiple buildings in a neighbourhood manner. And mostly in plan view it works very nice with snaps, some times inaccurate moves are resulted in elevation views and i use that intentionaly in draft stages and for simplicity. In general, working in plans without p.p move would have been boring and whould complicate other complimentary comands like multiple copy, repplicate objects, because initialy you need to fix possition and then apply those repplicate mechanisms. In fact thats why i chose #1 and #5 with out hessitation. But i would suggest it to work on crossection views like it works in plan view whith snaps.
    Thanks
