simple rotate
So I made a shape in Chief, turned it into a polysolid, and now simply need to rotate it on edge so it faces the correct way. I was told about a week ago we can't rotate symbols, but we have to rotate simple objects....I must be missing something again.

We can rotate symbols. Click the object and use "open symbol" to rotate. (pencil and chair icon).

This is just a polysolid - can we not rotate those?

No, you need to make it a symbol.

And...do yourself a favor, and use the polyline solid tool to create the object rather than converting a poly line to a polyline solid. What is the difference? Programatically, I don't know. But, one seems to work better than the other.

That's being kind. Is there a good reason that you can think of why it should be this way?
At first glance it seems rather not smart.
If you take an elevation from the side (either) you don't seem to be able to rotate it.
At second glance it still seems rather not smart.
Am I overlooking something here?Regards, Frederick C. Wilt (Began with v9, now using X6 aka v16)

Very anti-intuitive...nearly inexcusable, so I agree with Fredrick, but I understand Dave your idea on a workaround is correct - that is what I did. Some might say that is simply "the method", but you expect general "CAD" to so simple things such as rotate.
I feel like I run into this sort of thing all the time in Chief. Yet, I agree Chief does things all the time I am amazed at - which I wish my other apps could do.X5

Sorry I was not clear. It's not entirely clear to me.
If you take an elevation from the "front" (say camera on bottom facing up) you can then draw a p-solid and rotate about the axis of the p-solid that is perpendicular to the camera (to the line the extends left/right from the camera).
If you go back to plan and take an elevation from the "side" (say camera on left facing right) you cannot rotate it at all.
It appears that you can only create p-solids that can be rotated on one axis (created in plan view) or two axes (created in elevation view) but never all three axes.
You also end up with the weird situation where you are looking at two p-solids in an elevation view but can only rotate one of them because one was created from a "front" view and one from a "side" view.
In perspective view, if you orient things so you can see all three faces of, say, a cube shape, you can MOVE the shape in all the axes (x,y,z - or if you prefer - left/right, up/down, in/out) but again only one face can be selected for rotation.
A similar limitation applies to sizing the shape.
It's easier to see then to explain - take a front elevation and create a cube shape, take a side elevation and create another cube shape (about the same size) and then experiment.
Somebody had to work at coming up with this approach - seems strange to me.Regards, Frederick C. Wilt (Began with v9, now using X6 aka v16)

Guys, I am in agreement that it is a mess. I was just pointing out how to rotate a p-solid in 2 planes.
Kind Regards,

Can you rotate the angle and see if it is still there?
