door/window schedule

When I do a window / door schedule, the program gives them an ID number.
e.g. W1, W2 or D1, D2 etc. as the program is smart enough to do this,
How can I get the program to insert these ID's on the floor plan /elevations. It is a bit hard to do it manually as the assignment varies from job to job and I can not find the ID by opening the door for the window or door.

Dean thank you for your reply,
the material list is not the problem, it is just because it gives you I.D."s for the items it is sort of half way if you can not relate them back to your floor plan. The same as you can display or not kitchen furniture codes. It is not a great issue as the sizes are now shown on matric plans as well. It realy is that the program knows so much and ways to extrac this.
