So why wouldn't you use custom loaded MUTINS in lieu of framing members?

From memory, custom muntins have no depth, they are just lines drawn on the glass.
Whilst that can look OK in some cases, it won't look good here.

since i have a good group here looking at this - maybe you can help with this. i set the lower walls to balloon wall and now the upper section won't take windows correctly.

It is because you have your balloon through wall comming up from the lower floor, BUT you also have a wall on level 2 which is designated an attic wall - ie, you have 2 walls occupying the same space.
Delete your level 2 wall, OR, nominate it as invisible, and your window will display correctly.

You can't use lights if the head is raking.

Yep, Glenn is right as usual, I cannot put lights in a "raked" fixed glass window that has been defined as "match roof pitch", or a fixed glass window that has had the shaped altered. I could of sworn I had done this before. I suppose I had defined the window as a "tudor arch".................. thanks G.

Make 1 big window and add CUSTOM MUTINS, relatively easy.....

Yep, the easiest way, however Glenn's method does give us the added 3D look, just depends on what you want.
