Text not rotating with plan view

Probably something simple, but this is the first time I've tried rotating the plan view. Worked great, except the text is all upside down now. Dimensions are correct, just not text. How do I fix it?

Thanks Alan, however I knew about that option. I can only select that if I want to use custom text though. Is that the only way?

    Michael,

What tool did you use to rotate the plan?
I hope it wasn't Rotate Plan View!

No, that wouldn't make any sense I mean rotate plan view to rotate the plan...what kind of silly...okay, yes, I rotated the plan view with rotate plan view. Not the right thing?

Okay, I rotated the view back using the "rotate plan view" dbx, then "select all", then rotated the plan using "transform/replicate" and it works fine now. So what is rotate plan view used for?

    Michael,

The tool isn't called "Rotate Plan", it's called "Rotate Plan VIEW".

If ever ther was a case for Lew's locks, I reckon there should be one for Rotate Plan View.
How about it Lew? A big lock that needs to be opened before you can use the command.
I just sent an email to Chief suggesting that the Rotate Plan View dbx should have a big warning in it about the consequences of using the tool.

Rotate Plan View doesn't just rotate you plan on the drawing sheet or "drawing board" - it actually rotates the "drawing board".

The result is that to draw properly, you have to draw upside down if you rotate 180°!

Because of the way Rotate Plan View works, it results in things like the whole co-ordinate system rotating.
If you Rotate Plan View by 180°, 0° will now be to the left instead of to the right.
Similarly, +X will be to the left instead of to the right.
+Y will be down instead of up.

    It gets confusing very fast.
Also note that because the drawing objects haven't really been rotated (it only appears like they have), they will still display the "correct" way in layout.

You did the right thing by using one of the other rotate options.

Thanks for this post, I rotated my plan and now have to think the opposite of x and y when I move someting. Now I know what I did wrong, should have used translate. I have created the drawings and soooooo much information that it would be to hard to correct now?

Rotate Plan View was before my time. I'm not sure why it was put in, but it was there before I fixed Edit Area to work properly.

Perhaps it is time to take it out.

Does anyone know of a legitimate way to use it?

What it does is to modify the 2D transformation so that it is rotated. This effects everything, including the grid.

    Doug

This came up a while back and as I remember ther was 1 person who said thet used it.
I can't remember the reason now, but way back then I suggested it was a waste of space.

    PS, here it is.

My favorite architect couldn't stand the way Georgia Tech taught all the engineering science that goes into designing a building. He left tech looking for a better way to create the buildings he knew he could and did his masters at Harvard. What a refreshing and creative soul Ed Cheshire III was. He was in the last class at Harvard that taught drawing as a presentation art sketching conceptual drawings upside down for his customers benefit. He still works on St Simons Island off the coast of GA between JAX and Savannah

Its from the old paper days when you rotated it when you didnt want to smudge the plan when adding changes. Some of the ol' timers like that. I would put it to a vote on chief. I never used it, and since layout is in blocks that rotate dont need it ther either.
