Elevation view into CAD as a dwg?
Hi,
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Can you turn an elevation view into a dwg file and then export to CAD?
Regards

While in the view, File Menu > Export > Current View (DWG)
You can then open a new cad detail and import the file you just created.
Or, you could save the view as a new cad detail and export to dwg from there.
Not sure what you really are trying to accomplish.Kind Regards,

Thanks Dave
I've got a tight client deadline and i've yet to fully learn the dimensions and notation aspects of chief so was thinking of exporting my elevations from chief and the adding the dims and notes in cad as I know what I'm doing in CAD.

In that case, the easiest way is to just go to the menu > CAD > CAD Detail from View.
The current open view will be converted to CAD (all lines) and dims will snap to everything.
You can then save the CAD Detail with the plan, send it to layout, etc.
You can access it at any time by going to Menu > CAD > CAD Detail Management. (or Shift + V)
No need to bother with exporting to .dwg unless you need to send it to someone using another CAD program.Kind Regards,

Cheers Dave,
I just tried a dwg export from chief into cad and it works brilliantly. I have to send things out for other firms to open in cad so knowing this export function works this well will save huge amounts of time in future.
