Hi Scott,
I'm like most people on the forum; I never did much with schedules, because I heard from others that they were limited and inadequate. And they do appear to be that way on the surface.
Because I tend to be curious, and because I needed a better schedule I started experimenting to see what I could do. You were interested too, and things started to happen.
This has been exiting and important for you and I, but it may not be so for others.
It's hard to overcome the inertia of the old way of doing things, and Chief has not been aware enough of the schedule capabilities to offer adequate documentation. I do think things could begin to change if this information is added to the manual, or perhaps a tutorial video.

"However at this time you cannot change door swings in the schedule.............. might be a nice feature but as you stated not a must."
I don't know why this would be important. When I change the swing in plan, the schedule updates appropriately. I want to see any interference issues in plan when I change the swing. I might not see it if I change it from the schedule.
I do think it would be a good idea to be able to open a window or door dbx from the schedule. And I do think we need better sorting methods as Glenn mentioned. I would also vote to see wall thickness information on the schedule, or at least as "object_property" for windows and doors

I believe this to be the case with many of the features that CA has to offer. That is why this forum is so valuable to me. With your help and others, I think we do a pretty good job of pushing the limits of CA and I believe that is what CA relies on.............. us users finding ways to use what that have created in new and exciting ways. Heck fire, Aaron is back there writing a code that lets us DEFINE window numbers, but the MANUAL WRITERS do not even know what he has done. I think that Aaron should not only write the code, but I also believe he should skip his lunch break to start editing the manual................ hey Aaron, get with it Bud, we need to know what you are doing!

I am always thankful for what Chief does and leave what it does not do to others to complain about.
I think the schedules are much better than what we had in Versions 4-8 (which was zero), when they added terrain, I was elated (I used to use roof planes to represent terrain for Jove's sake).
The "join-Roofs" tool was a mile-stone (can you imagine doing without that one? I did for years), the dormer tool, etc, etc ad nauseam, ad infinitum.
All of youse guys are spoiled brats IMHO when I hear the nay-sayers and critics rev up.

But in all fairness, I like the non-choir members, they balance us out. It's like having Democrats and Republicans, they balance each other out.

David:
I agree with you
I love each release of Chief and then beg for more in the next release
Chief will NEVER be perfect but it does get better and better
I do complain and offer suggestions solely so that CA can try for the future
I will take 2D improvements - I will take 3D improvements
All are welcome
I complain about work-arounds but I welcome them and will use them
until CA "fixes" them
Onward into the future !!!
I can't imagine not staying current...

Scott,
I like to think of myself as the Greek Choir Director, I always tend to wear the "Happy" mask, I prefer comedies to tragedy's or dramas, generally speaking.

PS: I agree with Dave, in that using political parties as examples of or to illustrate differing views is no longer useful, to my view today's two-party system is no system or choice at all, it might be safer to use National Socialists (Nazis) versus Buddhists perhaps (a little more defined difference of philosophy's there).Last edited by David J. I just watched the first video half way. It does seem to solve the problem. A little silly that we have to have duplicate labels in the columns but I'll watch more. I think another problem is that the schedules sometime don't auto update. You have to delete it and use the schedule tool to do another schedule. It should auto update all the time, or have a refresh option.
It would be nice if these four videos were more publicized. They look VERY informative.Edward Koenig - R.A.
