Adding porch roof

I have Better Homes and Gardens Home Designer 6.04. I tried using Chief ARchitect but it's too advanced for my small mind LOL. I want to add a roof to my porch but it doesn't want to let me do it the way I want to. If I specify the "room" as a porch it automatically adds a roof but it makes it part of the house roof. What I want is like a shed roof coming off of the house. The house is a 12/12 pitch and I want the porch something like a 4 or 6/12 pitch all the way around the house. I will show you what I have so far. If you can possibly help me I sure would appreciate it. Thanks

just an FYI, you may also want to post on the Hometalk forum which is dedicated to HD products

your ver 6 product is based on Chief 9.5
thus it is very old and essentially an antique

you may be able to receive some help here
but there are not that many users of chief 9.5 etc anymore

do you have plain HD 6 or HD PRO 6 ???

If you have PRO then you have the manual roof planes feature
which allows to you to create just about any roof imaginable

if plain HD then you only have the auto-roof feature
all the settings for roofs are done via the wall dbx's
and your choices are more limited

if you are lucky maybe a chief 9.5 user will volunteer to help
for free or fee

if any later versions of chief are used your HD ver 6 product
wouldn't be able to open the files after that
