Shaded Polyline not visible in layout (but visible in floor plan)
Hi,
In the layout, the City Planning staff want to show the second floor outline on top of the first floor outline on the site plan. To make the second floor outline easily visible, I want to shade it (light gray). How do I get the shaded area to show in layout as well as in Floor Plan view?
In floor plan view, I clicked on the perimeter of the first floor and converted it to a polyline. I opened the polyline specification FILL STYLE tab, chose a solid pattern with light gray color. Note that “transparent pattern fill” option wasn’t available.
Looks great in the floor plan view. I sent it to layout and the shading does not show at all (however, it does block text that is in that area). This was my attempt for the secondary dwelling unit (two homes on this property).
For the main house, I used “sand” for the fill pattern instead of a solid gray (converted first floor perimeter to a polyline, in polyline specification FILL STYLE tab, chose a “sand” solid pattern with light gray color. “Transparent pattern fill” option was available and I checked it. Looks great in the floor plan view and it is visible in the layout. I’ve attached the layout sheet. See “Simplified Site Plan” section.
Why doesn’t the solid fill show on the layout? What is the difference? How do I get the solid fill shaded area to show in layout as well as in Floor Plan view?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
PS. This plan is in X4.Best regards,
Tom

Use a cross-hatch pattern for the fill (close spacing). Layout Views typically are just printable lines, text and images. Solid Color Fill doesn't get sent to Layout.
