    SSA renewal- yes or no

I upgraded to X3 last July and have had X4 for about 2 months. All is good so far but still much to learn. My SSA is up for renewal and I am trying to decide weather or not to spend the 395.00.

Couple of ?? for the group:

    1) do you generally feel it is worth it ?
    2) will it include an upgrade to X5 when it comes about

Thanks in advance for the input.

Its always worth it for me but I use Chief every day, and then some. I always like something with each new version. You are already missing out of a lot of features that will save you valuable time. The learning curve from 3 to 4 is not hard to grasp at all. You have to learn any new features anyway and they have videos for that. Do it now for your own well being.

    yes

    yes

Version 9.5, 10, X1, X2, X3 still all function just as they were intended to in the operating systems they were designed to run in, in the end it is up to you and what you find acceptable that should guide your decisions and choices.

assuming it is released while your SSA is active

X5 is "anticipated" to be released this fall

Thanks for all the feedback, It looks as though i will be renewing my SSA.

the upgrade to X5 alone should be of great value.

Dear Scott, I am glad to see that a reticence to be forthright and equivocation still do not inhabit your persona. Reading your responses also gave me a pleasant belly laugh, thank you.

@David, more than once in reading through one of your responses I am reminded of a quote from the film "The Last Boy Scout" where the character Jimmy Dix exclaims "sh##, we're bein' beat up by the inventor of Scrabble."

    Alan,

I do not like "Scrabble" (my wife always beats me and I cannot spell worth spit any how, I get by wholly on the existence of Spell-Checkers and Google).
I do read a lot and lots of authors know more and bigger words than me, so some of it does wear off on yours truly.
I did not create English and its hundreds of thousands of words, each with multiple definitions, but I do like to use it, of that I am guilty as charged.

the upgrade to X5 alone should be of great value.
I upgrade each year - my reasoning is the customers would expect the latest version to be used for drawing their plans ...

over time however the accumulative cost I am not sure supports the overall upgrades since SSA began ...

just saying the upgrades are more like $250.00 a year not $400.00 - especially without the Ridge Caps -

    but still "worth" it
