If you cannot see the topo lines in Chief they may be white. Try darkening your screen colour and see if they appear. I have my screen set to pale cream so white can be seen.

hi jim, i got it to work, did you do anything to the file? i just imported them as lines and changed them one by one to elev data lines.

David,
I just flattened the dwg in AcceliCAD & dropped it into a blank Chief plan. I imported the layers also, rather than have Chief put everything on a single layer. You can isolate the contours layer & do what you want.
Unlike other Chief users, I've never had the need to trace over imported contour lines. I just make sure a single contour is a single polyline. Chief will create the polyline (instead of short individual line segments) if that option is selected during the import process.
Chief used to be able to import 3D dwgs, but I think that feature has been dropped.
