    Break Line Tool For Elevations

In V10.8 which I am using now, I can generate an elevation, then , using the break line tool, break the foundation walls, click the generated temporary dimension and move the wall vertically or horizontally.

I use this a lot to create stepped footings.

I downloaded the trial of X4, and I cant find the break line tool when I open an elevation view. Where is the break line tool hiding, or does X4 have a different method to break the walls?

So far I see some nice improvements in the X4 version.

    Thanks,

    Ed Orum

    Ed:

starting with ver X2 (I think) CA moved many tools to the EDIT toolbar that appears when you select an object

this EDIT toolbar is a "context" toolbar and what appears on it depends on the context of your task

    same as doing right clicks

if it's a tool you want more prominent than that then you can customize your toolbar and give it a permanent place

By default, when you click on a wall in a camera view, the program will select the room, not the wall. There is no break line tool for rooms. You can use the tab key (or "next" button) to select the wall and then you should have the break line tool available.

Also, if you would like it so that the program always selects the wall first, you can change this in your preferences.
