Thread: The dsh Terrain Building Test

Without a foundation, Terrain under the building is set at the bottom of the floor joists. With a foundation, it is set at 6" below the top of foundation. I'm thinking that without a foundation, chief only adds the floor joist height (12), and forgets about the extra 6" which would account for my error of 6".
Gerry:
thanks for the clarificiation
I didn't bother with a foundation - had others things to do at the time
but Scott demanded a reply and now he can't even review my plans
I'll wait until he can as I am headed out for a funeral and won't be back till this eve
Scott:
my contours show exactly like yours do....

I feel in this particular situation Lew does not know what he is talking about (let's cut to the chase).
Scott:
look at my plans before you say that

Scott:
there is NO average elevation to be entered !!!
I set the Pad elevation to 20'
if you can enter an average elevation then you need to post your plan so I can see how you are doing
BTW: can the attitude - its not appreciated at all

Who cares about Lew's and my discussion. I feel in this particular situation Lew does not know what he is talking about (let's cut to the chase).
I do not want to get off track so I go back to post #1. Nobody has taken the challenge, and maybe you are correct, the programmer's at CA were not communicating, I don't care, I just want CA to acknowledge the issue.
Instead, Doug responds in a different thread, and he refers to the absolute elevations and the relative to floor elevations. But no examples, pie in the sky stuff that no one understands. He has not responded to my quest to determine "the average elevation" for my sample plan, is it that difficult to figure "average elevation" from the plan I provided? Or maybe this average elevation stuff is nonsense.
It's just very frustrating trying to share ideas with people and we can't get in sync to come to a consensus, probably my problem.D. Scott Hall (The Bridge Troll)

ooopps - shame on me!!!
On my previous comment about contours, I was Looking at contour feet vs inches. Changing the Units to inches to match the elevation planes gives the right result.
The contours are correct on Lews Plan.
Chief is correct to within a few in on Lews plan - Keep in mind that smoothing may be responsible for a inch or two.
I do think that Chief may be confused as to the definition of average elevation, center point and centroid. They should further define this
(Joe's repeated comments) .
BUT any variation is only off by a few inches.
In the scheme ( could be more accurate) of things this is a non-issue.Gerry

A few posts back you said we could not change the TP, then you said you put it at zero, and now you say you set it at 20'
Scott:
that is correct the TP elevation is 0" and will always be at 0"
I changed the "pad elevation" which controls the HOUSE - not the terrain
I said this before and I said it again.....
the ONLY way to change the terrain elevations is to ADD elevation data, such as regions and then change them as needed
so calm down, read carefully, and try to be respectful
If you continue to be disrespectful then I will be done with this thread
