Maureen:
I just discovered that I can sequence the window numbers any way that I want by assigning the proper sequence in the label DBX.
See this thread: http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread.php?t=59255
It's not entirely automatic, but I end up with a live schedule in the order I want.

I agree, more control over schedules and labels would be very helpful!

I just notice my original topic had taken off, but I made a reply on a similar topic. I decided to repost it here......
Chief's schedules are a disaster. I can't believe they haven't addressed these issues i na previous update or release. I used Vectorworks for 12 years and this was a very basic strongpoint of the program. So much so, you could change something in the schedule and it would auto update the item in the floor plan. You could even change the type of window from awning to a double hung, etc....
This is a major reason why I cannot adopt Chief for my commercial and retail work. You can't label windows and doors with manufacturer numbers. They require a numerical schedule, with adjacent doors/windows in a numbered ORDER, not different numbers all over the freaking place.
So hey Chief, listen up.......Fix this.Edward Koenig - R.A.

I did a little movie of how I think schedules need to work.

Edward, have you checked out this thread?
http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread.php?t=59338
The numbering issue has been laid to rest with a very good workflow that is not a work around. The door type change trick in the schedule you showed is very nice and I could see how that would be helpful. In my current workflow I am not sure I would use that since it would require having the doors to adjust and the schedule nearly overlapping on the screen. It about the same number of clicks to open the door dbx and change the type there.
On the schedule, the door description does show the swing/slider/pocket type.alan lehman - Lehman Design Studio - Carmel, CA

Alan - gawdriza,
I checked that thread and it has some ggod stuff. But it doesn't address how to still use custom call out labels but still get a circle around your door label and a octagon around your window label. You could do it manually by going around the plan and adding the symbol over the callout labels but that would defeat the purpose of automation.
Doug Park,
I see some good possibilities with Ruby. I'll have to dive into that some more. Programming is painful though. I'd rather spend time with my kids.Edward Koenig - R.A.

Edward,
You can use any shape call out you want and still control the sequence of the windows, Scott just chooses to use the label as the call out.
