Well probably not that large. My custom library is a little over 1,100 items. And most items are optimized.

I have 70,000 items and a hugh collection from the forum I have never loaded to the library yet
I haven't used X4 much so I can't say if it causes issues but it did cause issues with X3

Maybe with filters 70,000 items won't be a problem? Then again... that sounds like a LOT of stuff to sort! It would certainly put the X4 library improvements to the test!

Kay:
unfortunately, the main filter doesn't exclude the "user library"
not sure about the other filters
I can't believe that CA didn't think to allow us to exclude the "user library"

Oh goodness!? For some searches, my user library REALLY needs to be filtered out. Do you know if Chief is planning to add that feature? If a large user library causes slow searches, that is certainly a productivity buster.
In the mean time, I think I will start my own "user library" file structure outside of X4. That way, I can sort, delete, and rename my custom library items at the file and folder level. For my behemoth set of meshes and materials, that might be the better option anyway.

Is there a place to put in a request for a feature? Maybe if enough folks asked nicely???

Try the "Suggestions" forum -- once people see your request, more will hop on and say ME TOO!!

Hi all,
I think my main hard drive might be going, so as a precaution I'd like to move/back up my custom User Library to my laptop.
I can't seem to find an "Export Library" like there was in X3. Can I just copy the User_Library.calib over to my laptop drive and import it to update the library in that copy of Chief? Or will it overwrite anything already in that library?
Like Kay, my main user library is pretty huge (1.37 GB).Kathleen Moore

BUT... Not sure if this is EVERYTHING
Is there also a "My-Textures" type folder in some other location?
