I don't think so. This computer is already 1-1/2 years old and I'm not impressed with it's performance. I still wish Raytraced interior kitchens with a lot of highhats would render a lot faster. I don't bother with them because they just waste too much time in the office, time that I don't get paid for. Render with shadows is usually good enough, for th exteriors also. The renderings are just added extra eye candy for the client.

All of my times are stopwatch times (from "Raytrace" press). If you have a smart phone, a stop watch app is handy. The number (time) that shows at the top of the screen is 14 seconds.

Is that a "watercolor" with the "Line Drawing on top" box checked?

If so = 12 seconds flat

If not, clarify process for me and I'll try it.

Yes and then add the shadows ( final view with shadows).

    Smart Alec

Was this a trick to bring me to my knees?

OK, water color with line drawing on top = 12 seconds.
Add shadows = additional 10 minutes 43.8 seconds.

Yep, those shadows are a problem. I am going to do some tests to compare yours with mine, you still may have me beat.

On the old Quadro FX 4800 card, for the default Raytrace at 640 x 480, I get 29 seconds on the top of the secreen but my stop watch gives me 43 seconds because I am including the processing surfaces and export time. Are you including those also in your reported times?
    Using a stop watch here.

    Ok, this is interesting.

I ran the same camera, water color with line, took 22 seconds, then did final view with shadows. stop watch start when I clicked on final view 1 min, 12 sec.

I was hoping my machine would be close to Scott's, but it is way faster? I ran it 3 times to be sure. I wonder if he has a different line setting?

That s the time I would expect. I was surprised at George's time for a watercolor with shadow. His other times "seemed" fast.
