Len, without a doubt this is the best I have seen to date done in CA. A question I would have for Charles is how did he show the openings if he was simply using an overhead floor camera..... did he use the cross section slider to get the slice lower. I did play around with changing the default ceiling ht. to 6'0" which gave me an overhead ortho view with door and windows showing but I could not get near the quality that Charles shows.

Good Thane. I did the same using boxes with solid colours and custom fills.

I think this shows some potential here. I've used a live floor plan sent to layout, and an image of the furniture, fixtures, cabinets and appliances also sent to layout.

It can be done easily, and addresses most of the issues of the original query.

Scott, that is a clever idea to adjust the cutting plane for orthographic floor view by changing the ceiling height. Though I did it a little differently; I didn’t display walls (and doors and windows) in the vector render view (in orthographic floor view). I left walls, doors and windows displayed in the floor plan, only. It came out all right…

    Good job everybody...

Bill, you still gotta go through and make sure all your symbols have No/Transparent Fill on your 2D blocks, right?

Bill, also, export 3d ortho images to jpg and import them back into plan. What an xcellent thread this is!

    Grant,
Thanks for the compliment, and the additional suggestion.
    Bryce,
I just turned off the furniture, appliance, fixture layers on the floor plan that is sent to layout so they don't compete with the image.

That makes sense. Like the OP said, it's mostly just being able to do the text and door swing arcs, etc.

    You are welcome, Scott.

Bill also came out with a very similar method. I thought of it after watching your videos this morning.

For sure an excellent thread with plenty of ideas and inputs…
