Louis, for the last 7 days I have been looking closely at this picture and I just do not see what you are seeing.

My ears are open, I would really like to learn how to do this.

I don't make videos any more. I have moved on.
I spoke to Gary about this yesterday and he said he was 95% sure it could be done. He told me he would look into it when he got back in the office and he would send me the plan. This would be greatly appreciated because I think this would be a powerful tool if I knew how to do it.

I have budgeted some money for this. I will send anybody $100.00 if they can return the plan that I have attached with the necessary settings so I can auto build this roof without any editing after the auto build. I have also attached a quick 5 minute videos detailing what I am tying to do.

Thank you all for your help in this.

    Hi Scott,

What you are trying to do is not 100% possible using auto build.

    1. Build Roof Planes uses the roof framing specs to position the Roof Planes vertically relative to the ceiling heights.
    2. Framing is then created relative to the Roof Planes (downward from the Roof Surface).

This means that if you want to change the size of the framing members that the actual vertical position of the Roof Planes would need to be first manually adjusted up or down to maintain the same "bottom of rafter" position. If you then manually re-frame any Roof Plane(s) you will get what you want. You can use the "Build Roof Planes" and "Auto Frame" to get close to what you want initially but you then need to turn those options off and individually edit the Roof Planes that are different.

I thought I was told that it is possible, maybe I misunderstood.

    Joe:

do you mean select the roof planes and make dbx changes or
select the roof planes and move the planes manually in the x-y-z ???

if the changes are done in the dbx(s) then I would still consider that to be an auto-roof process

I also wonder if mixing auto-roof and auto-framing might be the issue here ???

while the roof might be auto-genned
maybe the framing can't be ???

I don't know the answers - seeking to learn

It really doesn't make much difference.

I wouldn't - it was auto until edited. If you leave the auto feature on it will revert to what it was before being edited.

    Joe:

yes, but the dbx changes are easily repeatable

this is where a Ruby script/macro recorder would come in very handy
