    New Laptop

I am looking to buy a laptop today. I have a great system as a PC but need a good laptop to take to clients homes to review plans with them. The one i have now is horrible. (See my profile laptop specs) I have CA X-3 on it and MS office and it is slow making plan changes and basic room renderings may take up to a minute to become view-able. Here is what im looking at from Best Buy. I know i could build one or always find something better but with a few store credits and gift certificates I have almost $500 to use. Thoughts Thank You

    Rob,

I have pretty much the same Laptop but with 12GB Ram and 2GB dedicated Ram on the Graphics Card. It cost about $200 more but I'm real happy with it. It runs Chief so fast that it seems like I never have to wait for anything. The Wireless-n is so much better than Wireless-g.

    laptop

I have Asus G73JH. I upgraded the screen to 1900x1080 from 1600x900, same card. It works fine.
Your system seems reasonable but I would upgrade the ram.

BTW, I think Best Buy loads too much crap on their computers.
I got mine from Craigslist from someone who bought it at Best Buy.
I reformatted the drive and loaded MS Win7 but by doing that I needed to gather all drivers for the computer.

    I just purchased it.
I know what you mean about all the trial software and other crap. For $69 Im having them do a full set up which includes deleting all the extra stuff, formatting and I'm upgrading the OS to Win 7 Pro. Pick it up in the morning. Plan to upgrade RAM to 16 GB

    Hey Rob,
I'm lost, your profile laptop looks virtually the same as the one you just purchased. What am I missing here? just curious but not George.-Brad

Rob, I bought a similar one a few weeks ago and am very happy with it. (12 gb RAM, 3gb video.) Bought it from Techonweb online retailer. They were great. No added software beyond what Asus puts on.

If I may ask, Rob what did the laptop from Best Buy cost as purchased?
    Thanks

Sounds awsome. I have a HP with 1/2 TB and 3 AMD's @ 220MH - the new X4 is way faster on my machine. I believe it has to do with the 64 bit processing of Windows 7.

My Sager laptop just died after 1 yr 10 months. Never getting a Sager again. One of the issues I had with the Sager is that it the fans were very noisy and the laptop was almost too hot to put on your lap.

I stated the above because I am looking for feedback on the Asus G74SX, specifically on fan noise and heat.

    Thanks for any comments.

Both fans are quiet (yes, it has 2) and in is remarkably cool - looks and temperature
    Look at techonweb only $1,300.

I have an old Sager that I bought in 2004 and it still runs good, and it runs X4.
