how to use dwg to create 3d elevations
Hi all,
How do you use dwg's to create 3d elevations?
I get it about how to convert dwg for floor plans like cad to walls, but how to you use dwg to align and generate roof lines that match floor plan layouts.
Thank in advance,
Greg

Not quite sure what you're asking here. "3D elevations" is a misnomer because an elevation is, by definition, a 2D representation (an abstraction you can't see in real life) of a 3D object.
Are you trying to go from some 2D CAD drawings to a 3D Chief model? CAD to walls can get you started but you simply want to generate the roof in Chief based on the information in the 2D drawings. There is no "CAD to Roof" if that's what you mean.

Hello Greg,
Welcome to the forum. As Bryce alluded to above, the short answer is, you don't get 3d from your .dwg import.
If you have a .dwg to import, it usefulness is in using it to trace walls and then build your Chief 3d model from those walls. The .dwg elevations are only useful as far as giving you the visual information (for your chief model).
The good news is that once you get a good understanding of the Chief tools you can go from a .dwg import to having a building massing done in a very short amount of time.
