OK Kevin,

First we start with creating a Millwork Symbol for the horizontal mullions and glass. This will be used as a panel for the window wall. I actually created 2 different symbols - one with just 2 horizontal mullions and one with an intermediate a 24" above the floor.

Next I created a vertical mullion symbol 4" wide x 2" deep x 1" high

There are 2 ways to create the opening in the wall:

1. Use a "Doorway" and adjust the width and height.
-or-
2. Draw an "Invisible" wall where you want the opening

Now, you create a "Railing" to be the "Window Wall". The railing Newels will be the Vertical Mullions and the railing panels will be the Window Panels.

Now place a railing in the opening - check the Chief Help for how to do this - the key is to create the railing parallel to the opening and set it as "No Room Def".

Open the railing dbx and specify it as "Panel" and uncheck "Raised Shoe". Now select the Newels Tab and set the height of the Railing and Newels. Then select the Panel and Newel Symbols from the Library. Specify the desired Newel Spacing - I used 36".

Once everything is sized correctly, just move the custom railing into the opening.

In order to put a door into the window wall, just use the door tool. You will have to change the Door Type to "Swinging", adjust the height and then create a "header" to fill the space above the door.

That's it!

One more note:

When I created the Window Panel Symbols, I specified a "Stretch Plane" at Z=36" so that adjusting the height of the window wall would not adversely effect the horizontal mullions or the lower glass panel.

I would but I do not understand what you are doing... should we do one together? It could be a Laurel and Hardy routine..... or Mutt & Jeff.... or Abbott & Costello (I would be Lou). Geez, isn't there a recent comedy duo I can think of..... hmmmmm...... how about the Smothers Brothers.... they are still 40 years in the past.....

It's basically a "Railing" wall 96" tall using a Custom Panel that consists of a 1/2" thick glass piece and 2"x4" brown horizontal mullions. The vertical mullions are just Newels.

How flexible is it to resize the panels?

Panels automatically resize to whatever the width and height are. I made my symbols 60" wide x 96" high, but I could have made them 1" wide and 42" high.
