How are you folks doing downspouts?

One aspect that still bugs me is downspouts. The symbols provided to do not stretch well horizontally. (The angled portion gets too thick or thin.) 3D molding polylines look good in elevation and section, but just show a line in plan, and aren't easy to move. Generally, I've been creating RWL's from the 3D molding polylines and then creating a 3D symbol for each project, but this seems inefficient. Maybe the thing to do is create symbols for varying roof overhangs, with different bottoms; elbow vs. straight.

Any other slick way that somebody is using?

    Hi Richard,

Why don't you post a suggestion for a "Downspout Tool". I'm sure CA will get right on it.

I guess I'm a true "Senior Citizen" because I don't even know what ROFLOL means. This must have to do with text messaging--right? I need a new diconary just for these abbrevations and I bet they probably have them on the internet so you can keep up with all the new ones. I'll have to look there and if I find one I'll keep it on my screen in the backround so I can stay "up to date" with this new "JGN" (Oh, by the way, this is "jargon") HA---senior citizen humor!

Joe-I wrote them down on a piece of masking tape and stuck them on the corner of my screen.

    Larry,

    The new written language:

Just use the first letter for every word; It is the reader's responsibility to dis-cipher. They (the reader) often assumes incorrectly, but who cares, it probably wasn't important anyway.

    Sorry Richard,

I agree Chief needs downspouts. They should be comprised of parts that can be interconnected to achieve a wide range of configurations.

I just don't use them, I make a note and add cad lines to the elevations.

I did my downspouts in 3D using solids and boolean, and now they are showing up in my 2D floorplans!

Too much information! How do I get them off?

Put them on a layer that's not visible in Plan View

I use the Chief gutters, which stretch reasonably well as can be seen in the attached elevation view. The 2D block on the other hand does not stretch well, but I don't show the gutters and downspouts in plan, I only show them in elevation. The 2D block could be corrected easily, but I've not needed it to look right in plan.
