Export Picture
In plan view I use the full camera in Perspective view tools and take a view of my room. I go to file - export - picture (BMP, JPG) and save in a folder in my documents. When I go to the folder to see the picture all it is is a solid black pic. I recently updated to X3 from my old version which I used to do this all the time to e-mail my customers. Any ideas why this is happening?

Yes, this is most likely a video card issue
while the video card may have worked with the older version of chief
X3 puts higher demands on it
do a search on "black" as there are prior threads about this issue with tips etc
do you have a desktop or laptop ???
with a desktop you can get a newer card if needed
with a laptop this most likely isn't possible

Make sure your camera isn't inside a cabinet or wall or other object....(sometimes it happens, really).
But, yes - it could be a card issue - however, not as probable (IMO). More than likely it is something that wasn't quite right in the camera view....Chris Fenstermaker

Thank you for your help. I have a newer Dell laptop but I guess it is the card. I searched "black" and found someone who had a similar problem. Someone suggested to Rt click program shortcut> properties> compatibility tab> disable desktop composition and visual theme> apply> OK and restart program. After this I was able to save the picture. Thanks for all your help! Pictures help sell jobs!!

Hi there! THANK YOU SO MUCH for this thread. It saved me! I was having the same issue when I upgraded, pulling my hair out. The tip with disabling those 2 things did the trick! Thanks for saving my butt!
